Hannes shall speak about

“Year 1 after Edward Snowden@NSA: Lessons Learned and Lessons yet to be Learned”

The "Snowden Year" is over and other topics dominate the headlines, but given the depth and breadth of intelligence agency's surveillance capabilities, many users have basically given up on information security and data privacy in their private lives. Feelings of frustration and resignation are noticeable even amongst long-serving and experienced corporate Information Security Officers, despite ever-increasing legal and regulatory pressure for appropriate protection of information.

Therefore, it is of utmost importance for the future of information security to review last year's disclosures and their consequences in more detail, in order to separate hype from true causes for concern, and to identify potential countermeasures that allow the retention of an appropriate level of privacy and security despite the increasing level of electronic intelligence gathering.
